About Us

A welcoming heart for every neighbour.

Our vision is to establish Community Plaza as a safe, inclusive and welcoming central hub for all residents. We are committed to fostering a strong sense of community, improving social cohesion, and supporting personal and collective growth through a wide range of activities and services.

We provide a space where individuals can find guidance, access resources, and connect with others — whatever stage of life they are in.

Our Mission

Building a stronger Birmingham, one neighbour at a time.

Community Plaza was founded on a simple belief: every resident deserves a safe, welcoming place to turn to. Whether you are a young person searching for opportunity, a parent looking for advice, an elder seeking company, or a neighbour wanting to give back, our doors are open. We are a non-profit community hub serving the diverse communities of Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, and we work hard every day to break down the barriers that keep people isolated.

Our work spans practical support, education, wellbeing, culture and celebration. We run regular advice sessions, signpost residents to trusted services, host youth and family activities, and bring people together through events, workshops and shared meals. Every programme is shaped by the people who use it — because the strongest communities are the ones built by the people who live in them.

We are proud to work alongside Birmingham City Council, the West Midlands Combined Authority, the National Lottery Community Fund, NHS England, West Midlands Police, Crimestoppers, local businesses, faith groups and grassroots volunteers. Together we are creating a hub that reflects the warmth, ambition and resilience of the city we call home.

Who we serve

A hub for every generation and every background.

Community Plaza is open to everyone. We welcome residents of all ages, faiths, cultures, abilities and walks of life. Whether you have lived in Birmingham for generations or arrived last week, you'll find a friendly face, a hot drink and a genuine willingness to help. Our team and volunteers reflect the rich diversity of the communities we serve, and we work hard to make sure no one is left behind.

We pay particular attention to those most at risk of being overlooked: young people who need positive role models, older residents who can feel forgotten, parents juggling work and family pressures, newcomers settling into the UK, and anyone experiencing hardship, loneliness or uncertainty. Through warm, judgement-free support we help people regain confidence and rebuild connections.

How we work

Local, listening and led by the community.

Everything we do is grounded in conversation. We listen to residents, partner organisations and frontline workers to understand what is really needed — then we build programmes that respond. Our approach is collaborative, transparent and accountable to the people we serve. We measure success not in headlines, but in the everyday moments: a young person finding work, a family accessing the right service, a neighbour making a new friend.

We are funded through a combination of grants, sponsorships, donations and fundraising events, and we are deeply grateful to every supporter who makes our work possible. If you would like to volunteer your time, sponsor a programme, partner with us or simply pop in for a chat, we would love to hear from you.
